Ballroom dancers from the tri-state region will once again converge on Dover Downs Hotel on August 28th to celebrate the 11th anniversary of USA Dance Dover DE.
USA Dance Dover DE is a local chapter of USA Dance a nationwide nonprofit organization of thousands of volunteers who love ballroom dancing and appreciate the excitement and romance, as well as the social and health benefits, that ballroom dancing brings into their lives. The Dover Chapter has been committed to bringing ballroom dance opportunities to Dover and the surrounding areas since its inception in 1999.
Last year for the first time in its 10-year history USA Dance Dover DE held its anniversary celebration at Dover Downs with Helmut Licht's full orchestra providing live ballroom dance music. "The event was such a huge success that we felt compelled to use the same venue and orchestra for the 11th anniversary celebration," said USA Dance Dover President, Mike Collier. "But this year's event will be even more exciting because professional dance instructors and competitors from the Academy of Social Dance will perform a dance demonstration consisting of routines performed at previous competitions." The demonstration will feature Enzo Minieri and Laurel Card performing a Cha Cha straight from the Blues Brothers. Also performing will be Ed Campbell and Susan Sordoni who will do a seductive Argentine Tango. And to further heat up the night, Enzo Minieri and Jasmine Hayterg will perform a hot international Latin Rumba!
The Academy of Social Dance, which has studios in Philadelphia and Exton, has recently opened a studio in New Castle. Under the ownership of Chuck Danza, the studio provides group and private dance lessons for all levels of social dancers or competitors by professional instructors who have trained and competed worldwide.

Also on hand for the evening will be USA Dance Dover's own professional instructor and former competitor, Deni Robinson, from the Ballroom Blitz in Lewes. Ms. Robinson provides weekly group lessons for USA Dance Dover.
This annual event has become THE social event of the year for area ballroom dancers.
The year's black tie affair will be held on August 28th at Dover Downs Hotel, 1131 N. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE. The evening begins with a social and cash bar at 5:00, dinner at 6:00 and dancing at 7:00. Live ballroom, Latin and swing dance music will be provided by the Helmut Licht Orchestra.
